I plan on changing the trans. fluid on my jeep and I wasnt sure.Do you use an adhesive on the gasket that lines the transmission pan.?
i personally would not.just make sure its dry and clean when you put it on.torque it evenly like you would a wheel.---------some people use sealant on everything.i dont know why.if you decide you are going to use some type of sealant make real sure you dont just goop it on.what you see on the outside is what youre gonna see on the inside....and i am sure you wouldnt want that getting inside youre transmission.Do you use an adhesive on the gasket that lines the transmission pan.?
Yes, after removing any old gasket material from the pan, clean of the surface, make sure you use the high temp gasket sealer due to it being better at holding plus holds up under heated conditions.
You will be glad you do, as you will not have any leaks, also make sure you tighten all the pan bolts evenly
most of your gaskets today seals by them selves without any sealant.if you can get a rubber gasket then they are the best. cork gaskets tend to soak up fluid and leak. if you use cork then i would recommend using some ( indian head shellac ) so it won,t leak but if you use rubber then you don,t need nothing.
If your filter kit comes with a rubber gasket then no, just make sure both the pan and trans surface is clean. if you get a cork gasket, then run a light bead on the pan and the trans then put gasket between the two. Permatex ultra black works great
Rubber gasket - no, but a thin layer of dielectric grease would be nice.
Cork or paper gasket - yes, as 4x4 mentioned, use black permatex.
Make sure you tighten the bolts in a uniform way, little by little.
no if you use any kind of an adhesive it will leak install the gasket dry on that one, that's the best way to get those to seal up,good luck.
No. You absolutely do not need to use any type of adhesive there.
Be sure to replace the gasket itself though along with the auto transmission filter on the inside.
make sure surfaces are clean and use a rubber gasket.
